We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for the project “Procurement and Installation of Two (2) HP Gas Compressors and a Vapour Recovery Unit (VRU), including the Integration of Existing Facilities at OML 152.”
Newcross Petroleum Limited, the operator of OML 152, is executing this strategic project with FWE Western Energy Ltd as the contractor. The project is aimed at optimizing gas production, minimizing flaring, and maximizing asset value through the deployment of two (2) HP Gas Compressors, a Vapour Recovery Unit (VRU), and supporting infrastructure.
As part of this milestone, representatives from FWE Western Energy Ltd, Newcross Petroleum Limited, Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, and Nigerian Upstream Investment Management Services carried out a joint visit to the OEM facility at Enerflex Ltd. in Houston, where the FAT was conducted to validate that all equipment meets the required design and operational specifications.
The Factory Acceptance Test covered both the HP Gas Compressors and the Vapour Recovery Unit (VRU), with the following activities successfully completed:
Visual inspection carried out on the two (2) HP Gas Compressors.
Successful testing and verification of the Murphy control panel functionality.
Loop testing was completed across all instrumentation on both compressors and the VRU system.
Full FAT execution performed on both HP Compressors, including startup and shutdown using all Safety Instrumented System (SIS) controls.
VRU compressor FAT successfully conducted, including performance evaluation at varying operating speeds (RPM).
Staged run programmes executed (5, 10, 15, and 30 minutes), with monitoring of bearing and journal temperatures, all confirmed to be within acceptable limits.
Testing of critical safety devices, including pressure switches, temperature sensors, vibration switches, and emergency shutdown systems on both CAT and compressor panels - all verified to be functioning effectively.
Identification and verification of all instruments installed on the VRU skid.
Comprehensive walkthrough of Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), ensuring alignment with the physical installation across compressor and VRU skids (with final validation nearing completion).
All operational parameters were recorded, reviewed, and formally signed off.
This milestone represents a significant step forward in the delivery of critical gas infrastructure for OML 152, reinforcing commitment to operational excellence, environmental sustainability, and efficient resource utilization.
The project now progresses toward the next phase, shipment and site integration.
